These updates were actually carried out yesterday but since nothing has been done today I’ll include them in today’s update!
Unfortunately it was found that some of the recent updates managed to break both the pixel drawing program and the Towers of Hanoi puzzle.
The pixel drawing page was a fairly easy fix but the Towers of Hanoi puzzle was a little more complicated. Apparently the update had broken the CSS pegs so the 3 pegs that the discs went on were not showing up. After trying to alleviate it with no such luck it was decided on to cheat somewhat and instead of generating the pegs in CSS it was decided to add a background image of the peg to the DIV. Not the best solution but for now it works!
As discussed in yesterdays update, the OCR J276 GCSE has now ended so I have now gone through and updated the J276 pages to the new J277 specification. This involved changing the keyword matchup and the keyword scramble pages as well as changing some of the content.
While going through I also noticed that the keyword scramble only covered paper 1 content. This has now been expanded to cover paper 2 topics for J277 giving the full coverage for the OCR J277 course.
The next update that I am going to do will be to include keyword scramble and keyword match puzzles for KS3 Computing. I was going to use my own scheme of work for the basis of the KS3 computing keyword games but thinking about it now it would make much more sense to do this for the schemes of work produced by teachcomputing.org which I know a lot of teachers use and which are fantastic resources. I feel that this would give the games a much wider sense of appeal.
I will also take a look at widening the scope of the KS4 offering to include more exam boards as I have been very much focussed on OCR as this is the exam board that I have been teaching but I have also taught AQA so it shouldn’t be too much bother to put up resources for this as well.
Thanks for reading and thanks very much for your support!
