A quick website update today that is also acting as a bit of a test for me to see if something works for when we post to our social pages!
Over the past few days we’ve added an accessibility plugin that allows the site to now be viewed as high contrast and it also allows the user to change the text size as required. The options for this should be floating on the right hand side of the screen and look like this:

Hopefully this will make the site easier for those who need these adaptions.
We’ve also added a blog post about open source software which features a nice list of open source software that can be used by teachers and students. The idea from this came from a twitter post asking for suggestions for free software in a number of different categories. The post goes on to my belief that schools should implement and use open source software more and educate students more about open source and the open source eco system so that more students can be inspired to get involved with open source projects.
The other update to the site has been some back of house updates and admin – installing some plugins, getting rid of others, basically trying to make things easier and more streamlined when creating content for the site.
You’ll also notice some new social sharing options on our pages and on our blog posts that will allow you to share them a lot more easily. Sharing is caring after all! If there are any social media platforms missing that you use to share content to on a regular basis, that isn’t there please let us know via the contact form.
On the blogs you will also see that we now have a related posts widget that shows you some of our other posts related to the one you are viewing. This just makes it easier to view some of our other posts that you may be interested in reading.
With that I will sign off for the weekend – have a great weekend and thank you for your support!
