There&#8217;s a reason that companies hire people specifically to run their social media accounts because <strong>to do it properly, takes time, knowledge and a boatload of patience<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having got our hands on a new system to post out to our social media channels a while ago, we&#8217;ve gone ahead and <strong>built up a number of posts that we can schedule<\/strong> and have so far managed to schedule posts every week day, up until the end of September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5918\" width=\"520\" height=\"319\" srcset=\"https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule.webp 1000w, https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule-300x185.webp 300w, https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule-768x472.webp 768w, https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule-320x197.webp 320w, https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule-480x295.webp 480w, https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule-800x492.webp 800w, https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule-50x31.webp 50w, https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/social-schedule-100x62.webp 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s been a learning curve <\/strong>navigating our way through this new system and understanding how our posts are handled by both it, and by the social platforms as well but we&#8217;re now at a point where <strong>we have posts going out ever weekday in August and September<\/strong> which is great as September is going to be busy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve tried to make the posts as <strong>interesting as possible<\/strong> and something that you actually <strong>want<\/strong> to get in your feed every day and we&#8217;d be super interested in <strong>hearing what you think<\/strong> about the posts or if you have any suggestions for what you think would be useful to you and others.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Readability_and_accessibility\"><\/span>Readability and accessibility<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve also had another push on on the <strong>style of our site,<\/strong> specifically the <strong>readability and style<\/strong> of our blog pages.  It&#8217;s no secret that this site has definitely been a <strong>learning experience<\/strong> (we all have to start somewhere!) and sometimes my past experience of creating websites (back in the 1990&#8217;s) has actually been more of a hindrance as the new style of websites is <strong>much more different than what it was<\/strong>.  Our goal is to make the site as <strong>professional looking<\/strong> as possible and this also means ensuring that the blog pages are <strong>more readable and accessible<\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To this end, I&#8217;ve updated the last blog post that was posted (<a href=\"https:\/\/computerscienced.co.uk\/site\/what-are-parsons-puzzles\/\">What are Parson&#8217;s Puzzles?<\/a>), <strong>emphasising key points in bold,<\/strong> which helps with <strong>skim reading<\/strong> for those short on time.  If you&#8217;re a <strong>teacher<\/strong>, then you&#8217;ll certainly <strong>appreciate this<\/strong>!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes it&#8217;s easier to <strong>listen to an article<\/strong> while you are doing things around the house and other people might find this beneficial as well in terms of <strong>accessibility<\/strong>. It also gives you a <strong>brief overview<\/strong> of what&#8217;s coming up if that&#8217;s what you want to see.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Random_styling\"><\/span>Random styling<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve also been working on some <strong>other styling<\/strong> with the blog and other parts of the website including changing the <strong>font on the blog<\/strong>, to make it more readable, changing the <strong>font colour<\/strong> on the courses, again to make it more readable, and <strong>sorting out our side bar<\/strong> so the background isn&#8217;t transparent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the changes we&#8217;ve made in my opinion, have made the site <strong>look a lot better<\/strong> and these changes are something that we&#8217;ll be <strong>putting in place for other blog posts<\/strong> <strong>and pages<\/strong> for the foreseeable future.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Site_notifications\"><\/span>Site notifications  <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the final update, we&#8217;ve also implemented <strong>site wide notifications<\/strong> through the browsers built in notification system.  If you click on the Accept button, this will allow us to <strong>notify you whenever a new article gets posted<\/strong> or if we put some <strong>more content onto the website<\/strong>.
